Drug Wars

Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) seized about half a ton of cannabis sativa, commonly known as soruma in Chiúre province of Cabo Delgado. The drug was transported in a truck, 18 camouflaged bags of grain, and were destined for Nampula province, where it would be sold. The owner of "soruma" said he would have bought the drug in Muidumbe district of Cabo Delgado, the price of four thousand meticais per bag. "I met soruma. I bought the bags inside the district, in the woods, in order to resell in Nampula. I do not know the homes of the people that sold me the suruma"said Acabito Cachote. Besides the owner, another individual identified by name Matthew, who tried to bribe the police with 18,000 metical to release the first,was also arrested.
