GUEBUZA LEADING AU team of election observers in Tanzania

The former president of Mozambique, Armando Emilio Guebuza, heads the African Union election observers team deployed for the General election of current October 25 in Tanzânia. Guebuza, who led the country in the last 10 years, joins the also ex-Nigerian President Goodluck Jonnathan, who heads the team Commonwealth observers.About 20 million Tanzanians are registered to vote on Thursdays' general elections, after the introduction o fmultiparty system in 1992.The election campaign started on 22 August, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CMM), The ruling party in Tanzania, elected as their presdential candidate John Magufuli.In addition to the AU, and the Commonwealth, the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC), The European Union(EU) and the United States of the Great Lakes Region already has authorization to provide the monitoring of the elections of 25 October.Many countries and many International organisations have been authorized to observe the vote. The weekly 'Domingo' quotes Ambassador Hassan Yahya Simba,Permanent Secretary of the BusinessForeigners, saying that SADC will dispatch members who should land in Dar es salaam within days to assess on the ground if the preparations for the elections are properly secured.In turn, the resident coordinator of the United Nations , Álvaro Rodrigues, called for the holding of peaceful elections so that the country can cement the current sustainable development.
