Mozambique Ports and Railways acquires new passenger train carriages

In two ceremonies in the cities of
Maputo and Beira, the company
Mozambique Ports and Railways (CFM)unveiled yesterday, 29 new carriages for passenger transport in the central and south of the country,the first batch of a total of 70 carriages which the company commissioned from China, an
investment of 4.9 million dollars.At the headquarters of CFM, in Maputo, the opening inauguration ceremony was addressed by the Minister of Transport and communications, Carlos Mesquita, and in Beira, Sofala
by Governor Helena Taipo.The carriages are coming to respond to
transportation problems in the south
and center of the country, with capacity to transport additional 300 000 people per day. And they are, by the way, the first new passenger carriages acquired by the company CFM since independence, given that previous investments in the genre have been refurbished carriages
