Mozambique to repatriate illegal migrant workers

Authorities are stepping up the
'fight against illegal workers'. In the
first quarter of this year, 4243
foreigners working illegally in
Mozambique in various sectors, were
repatriated. Also in the period, other 586 foreigners have been suspended, as
revealed yesterday, the Minister of
Labor, Employment and Social Security
(MITESS), Vitoria Diogo, quoted by the
Mozambique News Agency (AIM), during
a press conference, moments after landing in Pemba, capital of Cabo
Delgado province. At the time, the
minister said that "we remain
concerned about the situation of illegal laour force" Victoria Diogo argues that
an illegal worker can not continue to perform work activities in the country,
hence the reason for the 'zero
tolerance' in similar cases. "These are
the numbers we know and that have
been processed, but there must be
others we do not know, then we call say that they must comply with the rules, let them
come forth to labor authorities and
enroll-fulfilling what our law defines. No
need to work outside the law, "said the
minister.
